A 22-year-old man was killed and two others were injured in a single-vehicle crash near Auberry in Fresno County early Wednesday morning, August 13, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred just after 1:30 a.m. on Auberry Road west of Beal Fire Road.
Officers said three people were in a Toyota traveling too fast around a curve when the vehicle struck a tree, knocking it down.
The 22-year-old backseat passenger, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene. The 21-year-old driver was transported to a hospital, and the 22-year-old front passenger was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center with major injuries.
CHP said drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
