An 86-year-old woman died following a head-on collision in unincorporated southeast Fresno County on Monday, June 30, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on Butler Avenue, just west of Fowler Avenue. The woman, a Fresno resident, was driving a Nissan Versa eastbound when, for reasons still under investigation, she veered into the westbound lane.
Her vehicle entered the path of an oncoming Chevrolet Silverado. The pickup driver was unable to avoid the Nissan, resulting in a head-on crash.
The woman sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Silverado was not injured.
Authorities have not released the identities of those involved, and the investigation remains ongoing.
