[07-02-2024] Seven People Injured Following Multi-Vehicle Collision on Pacific Coast Highway Seven people were injured following a multi-vehicle collision along Pacific Coast Highway in Ventura County on Tuesday night, June 2, 2024. 

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 8:25 p.m. on a stretch between Point Mugu and Thornhill Broome Beach, near the entrance to the La Jolla Canyon trailhead.

Authorities stated that a 19-year-old man from New Mexico was driving a blue 2012 Ford Fusion northbound with his 12-year-old male passenger. For unknown reasons, the Fusion crossed the double-yellow centerline and collided head-on with a gray Subaru Forester and a white 2010 Toyota Yaris. 

The passengers in the Toyota, both described as Oxanrd women aged 18 and 19, sustained major injuries and were transported to the hospital. One of them suffered fractured vertebrae, while the other one had a fractured sternum. Another 20-year-old Oxnard woman in the Toyota was also sent to the hospital with injuries. 

Meanwhile, two occupants in the Ford sustained minor to moderate injuries. They were also taken to a local hospital for further treatment. 

A total of seven people involved were treated at the scene, police said. As of this writing, the cause of the crash remains under investigation, but DUI does not appear to be a factor. 

Further details regarding the collision will be released once they become available. 

Investigations are ongoing.
