[08-13-2026] Los Angeles County, CA – Man Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash in South LA

A man in his 60s was killed in a hit-and-run crash while crossing a street in South Los Angeles on Thursday night, August 13, 2026.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident occurred around 9:20 p.m. at South Vermont Avenue and West 83rd Street.

Police said the man was using a walker and crossing South Vermont Avenue in a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle.

The driver did not stop after the collision and fled the scene. Police and paramedics responded and transported the pedestrian to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Authorities have not released the victim’s identity pending notification of his family. A description of the vehicle involved was not immediately available.

The Los Angeles Police Department continues to investigate the fatal hit-and-run crash.
