[06-14-2026] San Mateo County, CA – Two DUI Drivers Injured in Rear-End Crash Near Burlingame

Two drivers were injured after a rear-end collision on southbound Interstate 280 near Burlingame, San Mateo County, over the weekend.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on southbound Interstate 280 approaching Trousdale Drive on the San Francisco Peninsula.

Authorities reported that a Toyota Corolla was stopped in the fast lane when it was rear-ended by a Toyota SUV.

Investigators determined that the driver of the Corolla was stopped in the roadway while allegedly asleep at the wheel. One of the drivers sustained major injuries, while the other suffered less severe injuries.

CHP stated that both drivers were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
