[03-03-2026] Contra Costa County, CA – One Person Hospitalized After Suspected DUI Wrong-Way Crash on I-680 in Danville

One person was hospitalized after a suspected drunk driver caused a multi-vehicle crash while driving the wrong way in Danville on Tuesday night, March 3, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported at around 8:58 p.m. when a vehicle traveling the wrong direction on northbound Interstate 680 collided with several other vehicles.

Authorities said four vehicles were involved in the collision, with two sustaining significant damage. One person at the scene showed signs of intoxication and was prevented from leaving by officers.

At least one individual was transported to a local hospital with unspecified injuries. 

The incident remains under investigation.
