[02-24-2026] Riverside County, CA – Wrong-Way Driver Killed in Crash on I-10 in Indio

A wrong-way driver was killed in a crash on eastbound Interstate 10 in Indio on Tuesday morning, February 24, 2026.

The California Highway Patrol reported that a Nissan Sentra was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes, just east of Dillon Road, when it collided head-on with a Toyota Camry. Investigators suspect that the driver of the Sentra was under the influence of alcohol.

The driver of the Sentra sustained critical injuries and later died. His identity has not been released. The driver of the Toyota Camry suffered minor injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
