Eastbound traffic was heavily backed up following a crash on Highway 50 in Folsom on Wednesday morning, February 4, 2026.
The California Highway Patrol reported the incident at 8:39 a.m., prompting the issuance of a SigAlert due to expected extended road delays or closures.
Officers closed one lane of the highway near Folsom Boulevard after the crash, which appeared to involve a vehicle hitting a tree.
Caltrans cameras showed at least one tree on the roadway, as well as what appeared to be the engine of one of the vehicles involved. The Folsom Police Department responded to the crash just after 6:00 a.m., and one man was transported to the hospital with major injuries.
As of 9:55 a.m., Folsom police indicated that a partial road closure would remain in place for at least three more hours while crews cleared the scene.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
