[01-28-2026] Kern County, CA – One Killed After Wrong-Way Crash Involving Semi-Truck on Highway 14 Near Inyokern

One person was killed after a wrong-way crash involving a passenger vehicle and a semi-truck on Highway 14 near the Inyokern area in Kern County, late Wednesday night, January 28, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, officers were dispatched at approximately 10:13 p.m. to a reported collision on Highway 14 north of Robbers Roost Ranch. 

CHP stated that a 2007 Toyota Corolla was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes at the time of the crash.

Authorities reported that the Toyota collided with a 2014 Freightliner that was traveling southbound on Highway 14. The collision resulted in fatal injuries to one individual. No additional details about the victim were immediately released.

CHP did not report injuries to the driver of the semi-truck.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
