![[11-17-2024] Motorcyclist Killed, Driver Injured After Rear-End Collision on Route 86 in Thermal](https://ak1.to//jZ9.webp)
A motorcyclist was killed, and a driver sustained injuries after a rear-end collision on California Route 86 in Thermal, Riverside County, early Sunday morning, November 17, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 6:35 a.m. south of 76th Avenue.
Authorities stated that a 1987 Nissan pickup truck was traveling northbound in the slow lane, and a Harley Davidson motorcycle was in the fast lane.
The motorcyclist, identified as 45-year-old Patricio A. of Winchester, reportedly moved into the slow lane and rear-ended the Nissan. The rider was ejected from the motorcycle and landed on the center median.
Emergency responders arrived, but the rider succumbed to his injuries about 25 minutes later. The driver of the Nissan, a 47-year-old man from Thermal, sustained minor injuries.
The CHP continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
