Two people sustained serious injuries in a high-speed crash near Naval Base San Diego on Tuesday morning, November 5, 2024.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the accident occurred around 9:30 a.m. in the 3500 block of East Harbor Drive in Barrio Logan.
A 63-year-old driver lost control of his 2023 Jaguar XF while traveling northbound. The vehicle veered to the right and struck a light pole at high speed, SDPD Officer Sarah Foster reported.
A back-seat passenger suffered two fractured vertebrae, while a front-seat passenger sustained a severed right arm, which was deemed life-threatening.
The crash is believed to have been caused by “a lack of sleep” on the part of the motorist, according to Officer Foster.
