A multi-vehicle crash on the 405 Freeway in Carson resulted in one fatality and left another person in critical condition on Monday night, October 28, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded to a 9:53 p.m. call regarding a crash involving four to five vehicles in the southbound lanes near Avalon Boulevard.
Los Angeles County Fire crews confirmed the fatality at the scene and transported the critically injured individual to a nearby hospital. The identities of the victims have not yet been released.
CHP reported additional injuries at the scene; however, the extent of those injuries remains unknown at this time. The investigation into the crash, which may have been caused by a wrong-way driver, is ongoing.
