A man driving a GoKart was killed after being struck by a passing pickup truck in a hit-and-run incident in Fresno County on Saturday morning, August 24, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 6:30 a.m. on Mountain View Avenue, west of Peach Avenue.
Emergency personnel arrived to find the man, the sole occupant of the GoKart, critically injured. Despite life-saving efforts by Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary investigations indicate that an unidentified driver, traveling westbound in a white Toyota Tacoma, struck the GoKart from behind. The driver reportedly stopped momentarily before fleeing the scene without offering assistance.
The investigation is ongoing, and the CHP urges anyone with information about the suspect or their vehicle to contact the Fresno-area CHP office at (559) 262-0400.
It is currently unknown if alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash. There is no additional information immediately available.
