[08-19-2025] 53-Year-Old Man Killed in Electric Scooter and Pickup Truck Crash on Dale Evans Parkway in Apple ValleyA 53-year-old man from Apple Valley, San Bernardino County, was killed in a crash involving an electric scooter and a pickup truck on Tuesday night, August 19, 2025.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the collision happened around 8:40 p.m. near the intersection of Dale Evans Parkway and Zuni Road.

Deputies and Apple Valley Fire Department personnel determined that a gray 2002 Mazda B-Series, driven by a 49-year-old Barstow man, was traveling northbound when it struck the scooter rider from behind. The victim was also traveling northbound in the lane on an electric scooter.

The rider sustained major injuries and was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital, where he later died. His identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin. The driver of the pickup remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Authorities said it is unknown at this time whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Major Accident Investigative Team (M.A.I.T.) is handling the investigation.
