[08-17-2026] Los Angeles County, CA – One Killed, Another Severely Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash in South LA

One pedestrian was killed, and another suffered severe injuries in a hit-and-run crash in South Los Angeles late Monday night, August 17, 2026.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident occurred around 11 p.m. near the intersection of Western Avenue and 56th Street.

Police said an unidentified light-colored sedan was traveling northbound on Western Avenue when it struck two pedestrians. Both victims were transported to a local hospital, where one later died from their injuries.

Authorities have not released the identities of either pedestrian.

The driver continued northbound on Western Avenue and fled the scene. No additional description of the driver or vehicle was immediately available.

The Los Angeles Police Department continues to investigate the fatal hit-and-run crash.
