At least one person was killed in a crash involving a black SUV and a semi-truck on Interstate 15 near Halloran Summit in San Bernardino County, early Sunday morning, August 17, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident was reported around 6:13 a.m. near mile marker 170 on the northbound side of the freeway.
Preliminary information indicated the SUV rear-ended a semi-truck, leaving debris scattered across lanes and both vehicles coming to rest on opposite sides of the roadway.
Emergency responders upgraded the call to a fatality at around 6:30 a.m. CPR was initiated at the scene, but authorities confirmed at least one death. The semi-truck driver was not injured.
A medical helicopter was initially requested for another occupant, but it was later canceled. That person was transported by ground ambulance, though the extent of their injuries has not been released.
The identity of the deceased has not been released. The crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Barstow Station.
