[07-07-2024] Los Angeles County, CA – Two People Hospitalized After Vehicle Crashed Into Steep Canyon Terrain in Angeles National Forest

Two people were hospitalized after their vehicle crashed into a steep canyon terrain in Los Angeles County on Sunday night, July 7, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the single-vehicle crash happened at about 11:46 p.m. over the side of North San Gabriel Canyon Road in the Angeles National Forest at mile marker 27.

CHP said that an unspecified vehicle carrying a male driver and a female passenger fell approximately 40 feet down into the forest after a high-speed crash. Upon arrival, they found the male driver trapped inside the vehicle.

Responding crews managed to free the driver from the wreckage and pull up both victims from the steep terrain. They were then taken to the roadside, where emergency medical personnel were waiting to administer treatment.

The man was airlifted to a local trauma center, while the woman was transported to a nearby hospital via ground ambulance. The patients’ names, ages, and places of origin were not available at this time. Their current conditions are also unknown.

It is still unclear how exactly the vehicle flew off the side of North San Gabriel Canyon and ended up in the Angeles National Forest. CHP is investigating the cause of the accident and any possible factors involved.

Additional information was not immediately available.

Don’t Know What To Do After An Accident?

Your safety and rights depend on what you do next after an accident. Remember the following steps if you find yourself in one:

  • Check yourself for any injuries.
  • Stay on the scene, call 9-1-1, and wait for emergency responders.
  • Move your vehicle to the road shoulder if safe; turn on hazard lights.
  • Fully cooperate with law enforcement and stay until cleared to leave.
  • Document the scene and injuries with photos and videos.
  • Seek immediate medical attention.
  • Contact your insurance company and find a personal injury lawyer for legal advice.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You

Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
