[02-12-2025] At Least One Transported After Forklift Carrying Papayas Collides Head-On with Van in Downtown LAA forklift loaded with boxes of papayas collided head-on with a van in downtown Los Angeles early Wednesday morning, February 12, 2025.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the crash occurred just before 3:00 a.m. in the 2000 block of East Olympic Boulevard. Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Newton Division also responded to the scene.

When emergency crews arrived, they found both the forklift and the van heavily damaged. LAFD paramedics evaluated both the forklift operator and the van’s driver at the scene.

One of the involved parties was transported to a nearby hospital with unknown injuries, though it remains unclear whether it was the forklift operator or the van’s driver. Officials stated the patient was taken to a trauma center, but it is not confirmed if they required that level of care.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
