[01-26-2026] San Bernardino County, CA – Multi-Vehicle Crash Involving Semi-Trucks Triggers Hazmat Response in Cajon Pass

[01-26-2026] San Bernardino County, CA – Multi-Vehicle Crash Involving Semi-Trucks Triggers Hazmat Response in Cajon Pass.webpA crash involving two semi-trucks and a Hyundai sedan caused major disruptions in the Cajon Pass on N. Cajon Boulevard near Highway 138 in San Bernardino County on Monday morning, January 26, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision was reported around 5:56 a.m. when a semi-truck exiting the southbound Interstate 15 Freeway collided with another semi-truck, crushing a dark-colored Hyundai sedan between them.

Firefighters arrived to find one of the semi-trucks partially overturned. Although early reports suggested possible entrapment, authorities confirmed that no extrication was required for either semi-truck driver.

One driver was found in the parking lot of a nearby gas station, while the other remained in the truck’s cab. It was unclear whether anyone in the Hyundai required extrication.

Two ground ambulances responded to the scene, though officials had not released information regarding injuries. Diesel fuel and oil spilled onto the roadway, prompting a hazardous materials response. Crews stopped the leak at approximately 6:36 a.m., though an estimated 50 to 70 gallons had already spilled. Officials also reported that about 100 feet of guardrail was damaged.

A Sig Alert was issued around 8:00 a.m. due to the severity of the crash and road conditions, and was later extended to allow for continued cleanup and vehicle recovery. One westbound lane was temporarily opened for eastbound traffic to reduce congestion. As of the latest update, the southbound Interstate 15 off-ramp to State Route 138 remained closed.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol San Bernardino Station.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You

Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
