![[08-16-2025] Pedestrian Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries After Being Struck by Tesla in Carmel Valley](https://ak1.to//ftxP.webp)
A man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after being struck by a Tesla in Carmel Valley, San Diego County, on Saturday night, August 16, 2025.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the collision occurred around 8:45 p.m. on Del Mar Heights Road at Lansdale Drive.
Authorities said an 18-year-old woman was driving a Tesla Model 3 westbound after a green light when a 32-year-old man ran into the intersection from the northeast corner, directly into the vehicle’s path. The driver was unable to avoid the collision and struck the pedestrian.
Emergency responders transported the man to a nearby hospital with critical injuries, including a skull fracture, multiple facial fractures, a collapsed lung, and acute respiratory failure. His current condition is unknown.
The SDPD Traffic Division is investigating the incident.
