A man was killed and a woman was severely injured following a single-vehicle crash in San Francisco on Saturday morning, August 9, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 7:12 a.m. on southbound Interstate 280 near the Cesar Chavez Street exit.
Authorities said a black Hyundai Ioniq was involved, and speed was suspected as a factor. Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt.
Paramedics attempted lifesaving measures on the passenger, a man in his 30s from Santa Clara County, but he was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:50 a.m. The driver was taken to a hospital with major injuries to her lower extremities.
CHP stated that alcohol and drugs were not considered factors in the crash. Two lanes of I-280 were closed and reopened around 8 a.m. The investigation is ongoing.
