[08-04-2025] Madera County, CA – Three People Injured in Violent DUI Crash at Avenue 18 1/2 and Road 19 1/2

[08-04-2025] Three People Injured in Violent DUI Crash at Avenue 18 1/2 and Road 19 1/2Three people were injured, including one seriously, after a violent crash in Madera County on Monday, August 4, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at around 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Avenue 18 1/2 and Road 19 1/2.

A 56-year-old man from Gonzalez, driving a RAM 2500, attempted to pass a big rig by crossing over double yellow lines. He entered the intersection at a high rate of speed and collided with the left side of a 2010 GMC Yukon driven by a 67-year-old man from Madera.

The impact caused the RAM to veer off-course, striking a stop sign and power pole before overturning and coming to rest against a house. The GMC traveled off-course as well, hitting a tree and fencing before landing in an irrigation canal.

The driver of the GMC had to be extricated using the jaws of life and was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center with major injuries. The passenger in the GMC sustained minor injuries but was not transported to the hospital.

The driver of the RAM was arrested on suspicion of DUI after officers determined he was under the influence of alcohol. He sustained minor injuries and was booked at Madera County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing.

Don’t Know What To Do After An Accident?

Your safety and rights depend on what you do next after an accident. Remember the following steps if you find yourself in one:

  • Check yourself for any injuries.
  • Stay on the scene, call 9-1-1, and wait for emergency responders.
  • Move your vehicle to the road shoulder if safe; turn on hazard lights.
  • Fully cooperate with law enforcement and stay until cleared to leave.
  • Document the scene and injuries with photos and videos.
  • Seek immediate medical attention.
  • Contact your insurance company and find a personal injury lawyer for legal advice.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You

Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
