A 17-year-old was critically injured in a crash involving a logging truck near Alton, Humboldt County, on Monday, July 14, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred east of Alton near River Bar Road. A vehicle reportedly attempted a U-turn and was struck by an oncoming logging truck.
The teen, identified as Ellyit L., sustained severe injuries and remains in a coma. Medical professionals have informed the family that it may take weeks or even months for her to regain consciousness.
