At least one person was killed in a two-vehicle rollover crash that sparked a brush fire in Poway on Friday afternoon, July 18, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 12:50 p.m. near the intersection of State Route 67 and Poway Road. The rollover resulted in a brush fire on the hillside near the roadway.
Firefighters from Cal Fire San Diego and the Poway Fire Department responded to the scene and contained the blaze, which burned approximately half an acre.
The total number of people involved and whether there were additional injuries has not been confirmed. Authorities have closed all lanes of SR-67 between Scripps Poway Parkway and Iron Mountain Drive.
The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation, and lane closures are expected to remain in effect for several hours.
