A man died after being struck by a vehicle while walking on northbound Interstate 280 in San Jose early Friday morning, July 18, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 4:55 a.m. just south of State Highway 17.
Authorities said the man walked into the far left lane of the freeway and into the path of a Toyota Corolla, which struck him with its left front side.
The pedestrian landed in the HOV lane and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
The driver of the Toyota remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. CHP confirmed that drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
