A 2-year-old child was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Garden Valley, El Dorado County, on Saturday afternoon, July 12, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 2:47 p.m. in the 4000 block of Jacobus Drive.
CHP officers, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, and other emergency personnel responded to the scene, which was located on private property.
Responding officers discovered that the child had been hit by a Ford F-150 pickup truck. Despite emergency life-saving efforts, the child died from their injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Authorities confirmed that alcohol and drugs were not factors in the incident.
