[07-07-2025] 18-Year-Old Driver Killed in Solo-Vehicle Crash Off Highway 101 in CamarilloAn 18-year-old man from Ventura was killed in a solo-vehicle crash off Highway 101 in Camarillo on Monday, July 7, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, officers were dispatched around 2:00 a.m. to the northbound Central Avenue on-ramp of Highway 101 after receiving an iPhone crash alert.

Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle down an embankment between the on-ramp and the parking lot of the Fairfield Inn & Suites.

CHP officials, along with Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies who arrived earlier, found the driver inside the vehicle, unresponsive. Officers rendered medical aid before the victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Authorities also confirmed that a 17-year-old male passenger from Oxnard fled the scene following the crash. Deputies later located him and transported him to a hospital. He was treated and released. It was unclear whether he was taken into custody.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
