[07-05-2025] Woman Seriously Injured After Motorcycle Crash on Highway 89 Near Sierraville StoreA woman sustained major injuries after being ejected from a motorcycle and left at the scene near Sierraville in Sierra County on Saturday afternoon, July 5, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol Quincy Office, the incident began around 1:30 p.m. at the Sierraville Store on Highway 89. 

A man was reportedly involved in an altercation with his female passenger before both left the store northbound on a motorcycle.

Shortly after passing the Sattley “Y,” the motorcycle veered off Highway 89 at high speed and struck a dirt berm. Both the rider and passenger were ejected.

Authorities said the woman was knocked unconscious and left in a ditch, while the man fled the scene with help from other riders. A Good Samaritan witnessed the crash and contacted emergency services.

The injured woman was airlifted from the scene to a hospital in Reno, Nevada. CHP is asking anyone with information to contact their Quincy Office at (530) 283-1100. 

The incident remains under investigation.
