A 54-year-old man was killed in a bicycle crash involving a vehicle in San Rafael on Saturday afternoon, June 28, 2025.
According to the San Rafael Police Department, the incident occurred as the cyclist, identified as Christopher B. of San Rafael, was riding east on Manuel T. Freitas Parkway. A vehicle turning left onto Lea Drive collided with the bicyclist in the intersection.
First responders arrived and provided medical aid before transporting the bicyclist to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Authorities said the driver, an adult, was not under the influence and had not been arrested. Police indicated they do not plan to pursue charges.
Christopher was a mountain biking coach at Terra Linda High School. Friends described him as a devoted volunteer who shared his passion for cycling with students.
The crash remains under investigation.
