A woman sustained minor injuries and was hospitalized after crashing into a piece of heavy construction equipment in Phelan, San Bernardino County, on Thursday morning, July 3, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 10:47 a.m. at the intersection of Goss Road and Riggins Road.
Authorities said the woman was driving eastbound on Goss Road when, for unknown reasons, she collided with a large Caterpillar motor grader, a 40,000-pound machine used to level rural roads.
The silver Honda Accord suffered major front-end damage. The impact crushed the hood and engine compartment, shattered the windshield, and tore open the roof. Vehicle debris was scattered across the roadway.
San Bernardino County Fire personnel transported the woman to a nearby hospital for treatment. Despite the severe damage to the vehicle, her injuries were considered minor.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
