A woman was injured following a head-on crash on Highway 74 in Riverside County on Friday evening, June 27, 2025.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. when a driver in a Mercedes crossed the double yellow line to pass traffic and collided head-on with a vehicle driven by longtime Highway 74 resident Jen Cheney.
The impact forced Cheney’s vehicle into the mountain. She managed to remain alert and later escaped through her window after both doors became jammed.
Emergency responders, including sheriff’s deputies, fire personnel, and paramedics, arrived at the scene shortly after the crash. The other driver was transported by ambulance.
Cheney sustained injuries but survived the crash. She emphasized the dangers of Highway 74 and urged drivers to obey traffic laws, particularly around double yellow lines.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
