A traffic collision involving a tanker truck and a sedan shut down a major downtown intersection in Redding on Saturday night, June 28, 2025.

According to the Redding Police Department, the crash occurred shortly after 7:00 p.m. at the intersection of Pine and Placer Streets. Authorities initially responded to reports of a gasoline leak from the tanker.

Investigators later determined that the fluid was leaking from the main cab of the tanker truck and not from the tanker itself.

The crash prompted the closure of the intersection in all directions for several hours as crews worked the scene.

Preliminary findings suggest that one of the involved drivers may have run a red light. The collision remains under investigation.
