A man was killed in a workplace accident involving heavy machinery at the Sunshine Canyon Landfill in Granada Hills, Los Angeles, on Wednesday morning, June 25, 2025.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched to the site at 14747 N. San Fernando Road at approximately 9:25 a.m.
Upon arrival, responders found that a piece of heavy machinery had overturned, resulting in the man’s death.
Though his identity has not yet been released, reports from the scene confirmed the victim was male. According to ABC7, a backhoe apparently fell onto another piece of equipment the victim was operating, killing him instantly.
LAFD spokeswoman Lyndsey Lantz stated that Cal/OSHA was notified and requested to respond to the scene as part of the investigation.
