A juvenile suffered a serious facial injury after being ejected from a bicycle in a DUI-related crash in Sonora on Thursday, June 12, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred on Sylva Lane near Cabezut Road, off Greenley Road.
Authorities say 32-year-old Ryan K. was riding southbound with the child passenger at an estimated 25 to 30 mph when he made an unsafe turn due to intoxication. The bicycle struck a curb and overturned, ejecting both the rider and the child.
The cyclist sustained minor injuries, while the juvenile was transported by Tuolumne County Ambulance to UC Davis Hospital with a major laceration to the face.
The cyclist was arrested on charges of felony child endangerment with the possibility of causing great bodily injury or death.
The crash remains under investigation.
