A woman was killed and a man sustained major injuries after a crash involving a Toyota 4Runner in Penryn, Placer County, on Thursday, June 5, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred along westbound Interstate 80 near Penryn Road.
Authorities stated that the Toyota 4Runner possibly suffered a tire blowout, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle veered off the road and collided with a tree on the right shoulder.
The male driver was transported to the hospital with suspected major injuries, while the female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. Both occupants were reportedly wearing seatbelts.
The identities of the victims have not been released, and the crash remains under investigation.
