A man was revived after being pulled from a submerged vehicle following a crash into a drainage ditch near Tracy on Sunday morning, June 1, 2025.
According to the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred around 11:00 a.m. near Paradise Avenue and Lucerne Avenue after the driver lost control and veered into a water-filled ditch.
Responding deputies and the California Highway Patrol found several people in the water attempting to assist two trapped adults. The driver was eventually able to free themselves, while Deputy Bergren and a bystander rescued the unresponsive passenger still inside the submerged vehicle.
CHP Officer Sandoval immediately performed CPR on the man, who began labor breathing and eventually resumed normal breathing.
Both individuals were transported to a local hospital and are expected to fully recover. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
