[05-29-2025] Marin County, CA – Multi-Vehicle Crash Blocks Westbound Lanes on Richmond-San Rafael Bridge

A multi-vehicle collision caused a major traffic disruption on the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge in Marin County on Thursday morning, May 29, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded to reports of a crash involving four to five vehicles near the midspan of westbound Interstate 580 at approximately 10:19 a.m. The crash prompted the closure of all westbound lanes.

One lane was reopened around 10:45 a.m., and CHP later announced that all lanes were fully reopened just before 12:30 p.m. Despite the reopening, traffic remained heavily congested well into the afternoon.

At this time, it is unclear if any injuries occurred in the crash. The circumstances leading to the collision are under investigation by CHP.
