A 47-year-old man was fatally struck by two vehicles while crossing Pacific Coast Highway outside of a marked crosswalk in West Long Beach on Sunday night, May 18, 2025.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, the collision occurred around 9:00 p.m. at the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Santa Fe Avenue.
A 27-year-old driver in a 2016 Toyota Scion was traveling westbound when the vehicle struck the pedestrian, who was crossing outside a crosswalk.
Moments later, a second vehicle, a 2008 Mazda 3 sedan driven by a 50-year-old man, also struck the pedestrian while heading westbound.
The pedestrian, a resident of Ontario, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
Both drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with police. Investigators stated that speed, distraction, and impairment are not believed to be contributing factors.
The crash remains under investigation by the Long Beach Police Department.
