[05-12-2025] Pedestrian Struck and Killed After Exiting Burning Car on 91 Freeway Near Cherry Avenue in ParamountA pedestrian was struck and killed after exiting a burning vehicle on the 91 Freeway in Paramount on Monday night, May 12, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 10:25 p.m. in the eastbound lanes near the Cherry Avenue on- and off-ramps. Officers initially responded to reports of a vehicle fire with flames visible beneath the car.

Authorities say the driver exited the burning vehicle and was then struck by another passing vehicle in the eastbound lanes. The impact forcefully threw the individual into the westbound side of the freeway.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.

The collision prompted the temporary closure of both directions of the 91 Freeway, causing significant traffic delays as CHP conducted its investigation. 

The CHP continues to investigate the cause of the incident.
