[04-29-2025] Man on Electric Scooter Killed in Crash With Car on Atlantic Avenue in Long BeachA man died from injuries sustained after being struck by a car while riding an electric scooter in a marked crosswalk on Atlantic Avenue in Long Beach on Tuesday morning, April 29, 2025.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, the crash occurred around 9:40 a.m. in the 6500 block of Atlantic Avenue. 

Investigators said a 19-year-old Long Beach resident driving a 2019 Honda Accord failed to stop for a red light while heading northbound toward Artesia Boulevard and collided with the man riding the scooter.

The victim, a Long Beach resident, was transported to a hospital in critical condition and died five days later on Saturday. His identity has not yet been released pending family notification.

Police said the driver of the Accord remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Speed is being considered a possible factor in the crash. It is unclear at this time whether the driver will face any charges.

The investigation is ongoing.
