Two men were injured and a woman was critically hurt following a violent crash at the intersection of Carson Street and Cabrillo Avenue in Torrance on Friday morning, May 9, 2025.
According to the Torrance Police Department, the collision occurred around 7:05 a.m. when a gray Kia sedan, previously reported carjacked in Hollywood, collided with a Ford F-350 pickup truck.
The two men inside the pickup truck were transported to the hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. The woman driving the Kia, who was identified as the carjacking suspect, suffered critical injuries and was rushed by ambulance to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.
Authorities stated that officers had not initiated a pursuit but had taken note of the vehicle after it was flagged by a license plate reader. The suspect fled and ran into the pickup truck while traveling on Cabrillo Avenue.
Investigators are working to determine whether the woman ran a red light prior to the crash. The crash remains under investigation by the Torrance Police Department.
