[04-22-2025] Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck Twice at Seventh Street and Channel Drive in Long BeachA pedestrian died after being struck by two vehicles in Long Beach on Tuesday night, April 22, 2025.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, officers were dispatched around 11:00 p.m. to the intersection of Seventh Street and Channel Drive.

Investigators determined that a 2024 Hyundai IONIQ 5, traveling eastbound on Seventh Street toward West Campus Drive, initially struck the pedestrian and immediately pulled over to provide assistance.

While the driver of the Hyundai was stopped, a black truck drove over the pedestrian and fled the scene without stopping.

Paramedics from the Long Beach Fire Department responded and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Police have not yet determined whether speed, distraction, or impairment were factors in the crash. It is also unclear whether the pedestrian’s fatal injuries resulted from the initial collision or the second.

The crash remains under investigation.
