[04-01-2025] One Killed, Two Injured in Two-Vehicle High-Speed Collision on Interstate 5 Near Balls Ferry RoadA 25-year-old Sacramento man was killed, and two passengers were injured following a high-speed, two-vehicle collision on northbound Interstate 5 near Balls Ferry Road in Anderson early Tuesday morning, April 1, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 1:20 a.m. when a white Jeep SUV traveling at high speed rear-ended a blue Mazda sedan driven by a 64-year-old man from Washington.

The impact caused the Jeep to veer off the roadway, break through a guardrail, and roll down an embankment. The Mazda came to rest in the center divide, and its driver sustained minor injuries, which were treated at the scene.

The driver of the Jeep was pronounced dead at the scene. Two male passengers from Sacramento, aged 16 and 18, were transported to Mercy Medical Center. The 16-year-old sustained minor injuries, while the 18-year-old suffered major injuries.

Authorities confirmed that alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
