[03-29-2025] Electric Bicyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on Balboa Avenue in Clairemont Mesa EastA 36-year-old man was killed while riding an electric bicycle in a hit-and-run collision on Balboa Avenue in the Clairemont Mesa East community of San Diego early Saturday morning, March 29, 2025.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the crash occurred at approximately 1:25 a.m. in the 6900 block of Balboa Avenue.

The bicyclist was traveling westbound in the bike lane when he veered to the left into the path of a westbound vehicle traveling in the No. 2 lane.

The vehicle collided with the bicyclist, who was transported by paramedics to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The vehicle fled the scene and was described as a light-colored, possibly gray 2016-2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan with front-end damage and missing grill and body pieces.

Authorities have urged anyone with information regarding the crash to contact the San Diego Police Department or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
