A person was fatally struck by a vehicle along Weedpatch Highway in Bakersfield early Friday morning, March 21, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 5:51 a.m. near the intersection of Weedpatch Highway and Kernita Road, just south of Highway 58.
Authorities responded to the scene and confirmed the pedestrian was killed in the incident.
CHP officers shut down Kernita Road in both directions as they conducted their investigation.
No additional information about the victim or the circumstances of the crash has been released. The investigation is ongoing.
