A 17-year-old driver and three students sustained injuries in a crash involving a school bus south of Manteca on Tuesday morning, March 18, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the school bus, reportedly affiliated with the Ripon Unified School District, was stopped around 7:17 a.m. on eastbound West Ripon Road near Alice Road to pick up students.
The bus had its flashing red lights on and the stop sign was deployed as the bus driver exited the vehicle holding a handheld stop sign.
A pickup truck, driven by a 17-year-old girl, struck the rear of the bus at approximately 55 mph. At the time of the crash, 34 students were on board, three of whom sustained minor injuries. No students were transported to the hospital.
The teen driver of the pickup truck suffered non-life-threatening major injuries. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
