A 60-year-old pedestrian was fatally struck by a sedan in Encinitas on Sunday evening, March 9, 2025.
According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the collision occurred around 6:00 p.m. on Jupiter Street near North Coast Highway.
Authorities stated that an 84-year-old man driving a sedan struck the pedestrian, who was walking in the roadway.
Emergency responders transported the victim to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
It is unclear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
