[01-02-2025] Two Injured After Semi-Truck Tips Onto Pickup Truck on 710 FreewayTwo people sustained non-life-threatening injuries after a semi-truck tipped onto their pickup truck on the northbound 710 Freeway near Del Amo Boulevard in Long Beach on Thursday afternoon, January 2, 2025.

According to California Highway Patrol Officer Bobby Eurin, the crash occurred shortly after 1:50 p.m. when one of the vehicles changed lanes, leading to the collision. Long Beach Fire Department crews found the Chevrolet pickup trapped under the semi-truck.

Firefighters quickly freed one individual and utilized a heavy wrecker tow truck and Jaws of Life to extricate the second occupant. Both individuals were rescued within an hour and a half and transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The pickup truck was left severely damaged, with its roof partially crushed and the semi-truck container piercing the windshield but stopping just above the steering wheel.

The collision initially blocked all lanes of the freeway for approximately 30 minutes. The leftmost lane reopened at around 2:35 p.m., and all lanes were cleared by 6 p.m.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.

Don’t Know What To Do After An Accident?

Your safety and rights depend on what you do next after an accident. Remember the following steps if you find yourself in one:

  • Check yourself for any injuries.
  • Stay on the scene, call 9-1-1, and wait for emergency responders.
  • Move your vehicle to the road shoulder if safe; turn on hazard lights.
  • Fully cooperate with law enforcement and stay until cleared to leave.
  • Document the scene and injuries with photos and videos.
  • Seek immediate medical attention.
  • Contact your insurance company and find a personal injury lawyer for legal advice.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You

Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
