A 16-year-old boy riding a scooter was struck and injured by a vehicle at the intersection of Ralston and Notre Dame avenues in Belmont on Monday afternoon, December 9, 2024.
The collision occurred shortly before 4:00 p.m. as the teen was crossing Ralston Avenue on his scooter. The vehicle involved was driven by an 85-year-old San Carlos resident, according to Belmont police.
The teen was transported to a hospital with serious injuries, which are not considered life-threatening.
The driver was uninjured but was cited at the scene. Police have not disclosed the specific violation that prompted the citation.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
