[12-04-2024] Pedestrian Killed After Hit-And-Run Crash on Northcrest Drive Near East Madison AvenueA pedestrian was fatally struck after a hit-and-run incident on Northcrest Drive near East Madison Avenue in Crescent City, Del Norte County, on Wednesday night, December 4, 2024. 

According to the California Highway Patrol, the pedestrian, whose identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin, was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk when a 2019 Nissan Rogue, driven by Alexandra D., struck him and fled the scene.

Following the initial impact, a Toyota 4-Runner traveling north struck the pedestrian’s metal shopping cart. A third vehicle, a white Kia, attempted to avoid the pedestrian lying in the roadway but was unable to do so. The driver of the Kia remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

The pedestrian was transported to Sutter Coast Hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries shortly after 9 p.m.

At approximately 8:35 p.m., law enforcement located the Nissan Rogue and the driver. She was arrested and charged with felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter.

The investigation is ongoing.
